DRNS Lights Up The Ellinikon Sports Park Grand Opening
A new landmark for sport, community and innovation — celebrated from the ground to the sky.
On September 17, 2026, Athens welcomed the official opening of The Ellinikon Sports Park, a new destination bringing together sport, wellbeing and community within one of Europe’s largest urban regeneration projects.
To mark this milestone, DRNS created a bespoke Drone Light Show for the Grand Opening, transforming the night sky above The Ellinikon into part of the celebration.
The event brought together representatives of the Greek government, local authorities, the business community and the media, alongside prominent figures from Greek sport, including Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The opening marked the transition of The Ellinikon Sports Park from a major development project into a new space for everyday public life — designed for athletes, families, young people and the wider community.
Bringing the Grand Opening to the Sky
For DRNS, the challenge was to create an experience that could reflect the scale and significance of the occasion while becoming an integral part of the event itself.
The sky became a new creative canvas.
Through a sequence of custom-designed aerial formations, the Drone Light Show translated the identity, energy and vision of The Ellinikon Sports Park into a three-dimensional experience visible across the venue.
Technology, movement, light and storytelling came together above one of Athens’ newest landmarks, creating a defining visual moment for its official opening.
A New Creative Language for Landmark Events
Drone Light Shows are increasingly becoming part of the creative language of major openings, brand experiences and public events.
Rather than existing simply as a spectacle, they can extend an event beyond the physical venue — transforming identities, symbols, messages and stories into large-scale experiences in the sky.
