We were incredibly excited and proud to design and deliver a Drone Light Show for the Betsson Super Cup 2025–2026, held on January 3, 2025, in Heraklion, during the final between Olympiacos and OFI Crete, at Pankritio Stadium.
With the shared vision of the Hellenic Football Federation and Betsson, this project marked a major milestone:the first-ever drone light show presented during a live football match in Greece, and the largest football match drone show ever staged in Europe.
A new chapter in live sports experiences
This groundbreaking production introduced a new form of halftime entertainment, blending football, technology, and emotion into a live experience never before seen at a Greek sporting event. It represents an important step forward for Greek football and Greek innovation on the European stage.
With 500 drones illuminating the night sky, Heraklion was transformed into a spectacular aerial canvas. The show delivered a fully immersive experience for fans, featuring custom-designed visuals created exclusively for the Super Cup, football-inspired animations, and strong references to the host location.
The show successfully launched with iconic symbols of Crete, followed by traditional Cretan dancers brought to life in the sky, celebrating the island’s culture and identity. The aerial choreography then continued with event-related visuals and official Super Cup branding, setting the tone for the football celebration.
As the narrative unfolded, football-themed designs and symbols of Olympiacos appeared, forming part of the planned visual journey designed for the final.
Weather challenges and safety-first decisions
The evening, however, was marked by particularly challenging and constantly changing weather conditions. Despite the successful start of the show, safety considerations required us to immediately alter the flight path and safely recall the drones.
As a result, the show could not reach its full planned duration, and several final designs were not displayed, including:
OFI’s 100-year anniversary design
The OFI club logo
The Super Cup trophy formation
We sincerely apologize to the fans and everyone present who were expecting to see the complete sequence. There was absolutely no intention to exclude any team, symbol, or visual from the show.
When it comes to drone operations, safety comes above everything else. It is our highest and non-negotiable priority, and all safety measures must be followed without exception.
Looking ahead
Despite the challenges, we are proud to have delivered a first-of-its-kind football drone show in Greece, under demanding conditions, contributing to a Super Cup experience that stood out for players, fans, and organizers alike.
This milestone places Greek football — and Greek innovation — once again at the forefront of Europe and opens new possibilities for the future of major sporting events, as well as for brands and organizations seeking powerful, modern, and memorable ways to connect with live audiences.
Difficult conditions are part of innovation. We learn, adapt, and evolve.
We will return and deliver the complete experience exactly as it deserves to be presented.Stronger, safer, and better than ever. 🚀✨
