The Colossus of Rhodes Reborn: An Ancient Wonder Illuminated by 1,000 Drones

We’re proud to share that on World Tourism Day 2025, 27 September, our team at DRNS Drone Light Show brought the legendary Colossus of Rhodes back to life in the skies above the island. With 1,000 synchronized drones, Rhodes witnessed the biggest drone light show ever staged in Greece and Southeastern Europe (excluding the Vatican) — a breathtaking fusion of myth, history, and innovation.

With 1,000 drones, the night sky over Rhodes turned into a canvas of light where the ancient wonder, the Colossus of Rhodes, was revived alongside the island’s most iconic symbols: the deer of Rhodes, the Valley of the Butterflies, the Knights, and Olympic champion Diagoras.

For the first time in a drone show, jets of light were synchronized with the aerial choreography. The result was a pioneering spectacle that merged innovation with myth and history, showcasing Greek tourism, culture, and heritage in a truly spectacular way. The show culminated with the word PHILOXENIA and closed with the message: “Rhodes: Where History Breathes, and Hospitality Shines.”

From Doubt to Recognition

DRNS first came into the spotlight in May 2025 with the much-discussed Adidas drone show in Athens, which went viral on social media. Despite initial criticism, it was soon proven that the drones never flew over the Acropolis and that all permits had been properly secured.

A few months later, the team showed that ambition does not get buried in Greece: with their vision, they created a production that stood proudly next to international events, highlighting our country through cutting-edge technology and culture, and putting Rhodes at the center of the world’s most spectacular happenings.

The two co-founders of DRNS, together with their team, started with a clear vision:

• To bring to Greece a new and modern form of entertainment and a powerful marketing tool that until now was only seen abroad.

• To prove that Greece can produce projects of international standards.
